How Often Should I Wax?
You should expect to see 1-2 weeks of smooth skin after your very first wax. I recommend that you wait at least 30 days in between waxes to let your hair grow back long enough to wax again. Every time you come in to my salon, your hair will grow back less thick and less frequently so you will stay hair free a little longer.
How long does my hair need to be?
At Blue Moon Waxing, it is preferred clients stop shaving, trimming or the use of Nair at least 3 weeks before a wax appointment. About the length of a grain of rice 1/4 - 1 inch depending on the area.
How should I prepare for my Brazilian wax?
Take a warm shower or bath at least two hours before or the night before the appointment. Avoid shaving or trimming. Gently exfoliate the area 24 hours before. Wear loose clothing for your appointment. Take an ibuprofen at least 30 minutes before your appointment. Avoid caffeine and alcohol the day of. Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
What should I do after my Brazilian wax?
Wait at least 24-48 hours before you workout, sit in a sauna, go to the beach or pool, be intimate, or anything that would cause you to sweat excessively. Avoid hot baths and showers because it might cause bumps. Make sure to wear loose clothes for the remainder of the day to avoid irritation or discomfort. Do not exfoliate until at lest 3-4 days after your appointment.
Can I get a Brazilian wax on my period?
Yes! As long as you place in a new tampon or cup right before your appointment. However, you may be more sensitive during this time and at least 3-5 days before your cycle starts. Schedule your wax appointment accordingly if you tend to be more sensitive during your cycle.
Can I get a Brazilian wax if I am pregnant?
Yes! You can still get waxed when you are pregnant unless your doctor advises not to. I always suggest start waxing in your early stages so that you get used to the wax by the time you are at your last trimester. After birth, wait at least 8 weeks before you come in for your next wax appointment.
Does waxing hurt?
Hair removal can be a little uncomfortable, however most people find it quite tolerable. I work quickly to minimize pain so it only lasts for a few seconds and each visit will become easier for you
Can I tan before or after I get waxed?

The very top layer of skin could pull off or “lift” which is painful and can result in scabbing. You should wait for 3 days after you have waxed to tan. What do you do to keep your salon sanitary?
Your health is very important to me and I have strict hygiene standards to keep my salon clean and provide a clean and comfortable experience for each of my customers. My waxing suite is private and only allows one customer at a time. I never double dip the disposable spatulas into the wax pots and I use new gloves for every wax service. Between customers everything is sanitized, all my tools are soaked in disinfectant and I pull new paper for the bed for the next customer. I am also Barbicide certified.
